2010 CoreNet Global Economic Development Leadership Award Presented to Kansas City Area Development Council.
Biggins Lacy Shapiro & Company (BLS) congratulates the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) winner of the 2010 CoreNet Economic Development Leadership Award. The award was presented by CoreNet’s Interim & Incoming CEO, Ron Zappile and Angela Cain, and Jay Biggins, Executive Managing Director of BLS, on Monday, April 19th at the CoreNet Global Summit in New Orleans. BLS is the founding sponsor of Economic Development Leadership Awards.
The KCADC was recognized for the creative transformation of a legacy industry, its stockyards, into a vibrant new life sciences cluster that has been branded the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor – the world’s largest concentration of companies in the animal health sector. “This award calls attention to a truly distinguished initiative,” noted Biggins, “combining the benefits of networking, education and training, research collaboration, advocacy and specialized incentives tools that, together, create powerful competitive advantages for the Greater Kansas City region.”
Accepting on behalf of KCADC, President and CEO Bob Marcusse said “We are deeply honored to have been selected by CoreNet for this recognition. The hard work of a lot of good people is being acknowledged through this award and that is gratifying. Most importantly, however, thousands of jobs have been created and hundreds of millions of dollars of investment have occurred in the Kansas City region as a result of this collaborative program of economic development.”
