Relocation of financial service headquarters and trading floor to Jersey City in aftermath of World Trade Center disaster

To facilitate ICAP's recovery from the devastation at the World Trade Center, BLS secured a grant from the State of New Jersey, valued in excess of $70 million over a period of 10 years, in conjunction with its forced relocation to Jersey City, NJ. In doing so the State agreed that those employees temporarily shifted to New Jersey immediately after the firm’s headquarters were destroyed on September 11th would remain eligible for inclusion in the grant. This process was expedited to 45 days from inception to approval.

Results:

  • 700+ jobs retained/created
  • 150,000 sf square feet of space occupied
  • $64 million investment
  • Incentives valued at $360 per square foot
